Jose Ignacio

When the waves are high and the sun is out, this sleepy seaside village turns into a surfer's haven. It becomes lively and social while still being tranquil and unchained from the urban life. Its secret beaches and private resorts are perfect to unwind!
Colonia del Sacramento

Colonia del Sacramento

Facing Buenos Aires across the broad Rio de la Plata you find one of Uruguay’s oldest and most picturesque cities. Recently declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO, the Old City with its charming streets is one of South America’s jewels that should be on the list of all visitors to the region. Founded in 1680 by the Portuguese, the city was fought over for nearly a century by Spain and Portugal due to its strategic location as a commercial port. Today, the past can still be felt and seen in the city’s cobblestone streets and stone houses. Colonia complements its historical value with natural beauty and miles of fine sand river beaches.

Carmelo

Carmelo

Carmelo is a laid-back town with cobblestone streets centered on fishing. It situates in southwestern Uruguay straddling the Uruguay River on the west and Arroyo de las Vacas in the South. Carmelo was founded by the Spanish in colonial 16th century. The town proudly birthed Uruguay’s national Hero Jose Gervasio Artigas who reclaimed Uruguay’s independence from the Spanish.

Visitors can cruise down the River Uruguay and relax by the river beach. Visitors can also tour around the notorious prison on Juncal Island, stroll through the Colonia Wineries, and explore ancient ruins and landmarks such as the Calera de Las Huerfanas.

Montevideo

Montevideo

Slightly threadbare and charmingly out of date, Montevideo harks back to pre-war days when it was the "Switzerland of South America." Art deco and art nouveau façades reflect this flourishing past, while the impressive Plaza Independencia, with its colonnades and open-air cafés, is a perfect place to savor the present.
